COSTA RICA EXTRA – A live broadcast on Facebook cost the host of at Channel 6 local television, Repretel, her job.
On Thursday night, in a pre-party prior to the Alejandro Sanz concert, Peraza and her husband, Byron Garita, visited the home of model and television personality, Nancy Dobles, in La Sabana, where they decided to broadcast live on Facebook.
In addition to Peraza, Garita and Dobles, present at the pre-party was Ignacio Santos (Dobles’ husband) and head of local television Channel 7, Teletica, news and tje host of the Channel 7 morning show, Buen Dia, Randall Salazar, among other guests.
Everything cool so far. “The girls” were having fun with their smartphone, panning the phone’s camera around the room, at the full moon and the national stadium, until a Facebook fan wrote Glenda “move over to Channel 7.”
Randall replies, “I think we’ll steal her,” to which Glenda reacted singing: “Steal me…if they haven’t stolen me, sure they have fired me (from Repretel). If they fire me, I am gone.”
The joking around continued as more Facebook fans insisted that Glenda move over to Channel 7, this time Ignacio agreeing.
The Channel 7 television news director answered the spectator with, “I told her but she doesn’t want to come over to us, wants to stay there (referring to Channel 6)”.
“It’s what I say, that they hire me. Take me, take me…” continues Glenda, to which Santos responds, “we took Victor Carvajal, we will take Glenda.”
The banter went one for several minutes more.
Over at Channel 6 Glenda’s broadcast didn’t over very well. The president of Repretel, Fernando Contreras, was quick confirm that Glenda Peraza no longer worked at Channel 6.
In an email Friday Contreras told Glenda, “You are free to seek other opportunities and the work that best suits you.”
Contreras confirmed to the press that “the working relationship (with Peraza) is over”.
By way of Whatsapp Peraza wrote, “I have nothing more to say than thanks to everyone at Repretel for the opportunity”.
On Friday afternoon, the now unemployed television host, said she has not received any proposal from Channel 7.
Glenda Peraza moved over to Repretel (owners of several television channels) in March, four months after the closing of Channel 9.
Glenda had been contracted by Repretel on an a temporary basis, to fill in for the maternity leave of Channel 11 host Natalia Monge on maternity leave and in the words of Contreras it was unclear if Glenda would have been kept on after that, so her firing doesn’t seem a big loss for the television station.
Lesson here. Don’t diss your current boss, especially while partying with your boss’ competitor and do it live on the social media. Don’t do a “glenda”.
