COSTA RICA EXTRA – Going to the movies in Costa Rica just won’t be the same anymore, now with the first 4DX theatre making its debut.

Cinépolis in Terramall (in Tres Rios) is the first to bring us the seventh art experience that enhances the visual and auditory stimulation with touch and smell.

A key component to the experience are the seats, that besides moving from side to side, forward and backward, can spray you with water to simulate raindrops and produce different scents and smells.

Special fans produce wind, other machines produce bubbles, smoke, while others provide special sound and lighting effects.

The movie The Maze Runner was chosen for the screening of the first 4DX in Costa Rica.

The cost to see a movie in 4DX is between ¢6.500 and ¢7.500 colones, almost twice that of a “normal” theatre screening.

The Cinépolis theatre in Terramall has a capacity of 232.
