Miss Costa Rica 2014 and model Karina Ramos, is suing model and Miss Costa Rica contestant Nicole Carboni and Multimedios Costa Rica, for ¢135 million colones for insults and defamation.
In her lawsuit, Karina claims Nicole, in a live broadcast of the “Divas pero divinas” program, defamed her by saying she obtained her Miss Costa Rica 2014 crown for having sex with the organizer of the event, who also happens to be the director of the leading television station in the country.
The lawsuit names names, we won’t.
Karina says that Nicole’s statements on the program that aired live on April 2, 2019, and followed up on the social networks, caused damage to her reputation and loss of income to her modeling agency, Imagination Agency.
In her claim, she seeks almost a half million dollars, – half from Nicole and the other half from Multimedios.
The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
For her part, Nicole defends herself on the social networks, claiming she was duped into speaking out openly and without censorship.
The model wrote on her Facebook account, “I am not from wanting to please everyone, I am someone who likes to say things as they are, direct and true. Unfortunately, they played me, since the same presenters asked me the question about Karina”.
For their part, Multimedios rejects Nicole’s assertions of being played, the “Divas pero divinas” producer said Nicole could have used different language to get her opinion across to the audience.
“In those situations (live shows), the way in which words are used is very important, it is not necessary to say things like that (as Nicole said), because there are others ways to say it,” said Eric Muñoz.
In Costa Rica fashion (no pun intended), the outcome of this lawsuit has three possible endings: one, the models make up and kiss and all is forgiven (but not forgotten); two, they spend the next millennium in the court system, through mud at each other at every turn of the cameras.
The third, and most likely ending is that this will all be forgotten by the next news cycle.
