CRC via Fashion Magazine –After days of anticipation, the Met Gala is finally here. As fashion’s biggest party of the year (read: prom night), the industry’s brightest designers, stars and influencers are gathering as we speak under one roof to celebrate the unveiling of its latest exhibition: Manus x Machina. While the theme may have been a little ambiguous at first, judging from the red carpet action, it looked the celebrities (but really, stylists) had no problem dressing for the occasion.
First up, Taylor Swift. As the face of Apple Music and Vogue’s May cover girl, all eyes are on the co-chair and host of the evening. Forever ditching her former country princess ego and adopting her current rock-n-roll look, the Grammy winner went futuristic mode in a metallic Louis Vuitton mini dress (black lipstick and all). But with a Chanel-clad Anna Wintour by her side, she could hardly fail at making the best-dressed list.
Obviously, there was no shortage of embellishments and metallic hardware at this year’s gala. Zendaya, Kylie Jenner and Ciara were proof. But it was the Louis Vuitton gang that got the photographers in a frenzy. Made up of the brand’s It girls, Selena Gomez and Alicia Vikander led the best-dressed crowd in galactic-battle ready looks.
Gowns were aplenty on the red carpet as well. But young starlets Chloe Grace Moretz and Elle Fanning proved they were anything but pretty and feminine.
Meanwhile, Rita Ora glided (flew?) onto the scene in tonight’s first naked dress made up of silver feathers, courtesy of Vera Wang, while Kim Kardashian and Kanye West literally looked like they came from out of this world.
So who was your favourite from this year’s Met Gala?
