COSTA RICA EXTRA — The Cirque du Soleil (Circo del Sol in Spanish) will back in Costa Rica, its second visit to the country, for performances starting on January 22, 2015.

Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo, directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, “brings the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth” says the Cirque de Soleil website.

Cortéo—an Italian word meaning “cortège,” or procession—is a contemporary circus show about a clown who watches his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like atmosphere. It is partly inspired by The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as Clown on display at the National Gallery of Canada.
