COSTA RICA EXTRA — The Cirque du Soleil (Circo del Sol in Spanish) will back in Costa Rica, its second visit to the country, for performances starting on January 22, 2015.
Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo, directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, “brings the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth” says the Cirque de Soleil website.
Cortéo—an Italian word meaning “cortège,” or procession—is a contemporary circus show about a clown who watches his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like atmosphere. It is partly inspired by The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as Clown on display at the National Gallery of Canada.
The show will be staged at the Hacienda Espinal, the same location the Cirque de Soleil used in 2013.
Shows will be Wednesday and Thursdays at 8:00pm; Fridays and Saturdays at 4:00pm and 8:00pm; and on Sundays at noon and 4:00pm.
Tickets start at ¢38.080 for “Reservado C”; ¢50.960 for “Reservado B”; ¢65.520 for “Reservado A”; ¢72.240 for “Premium”; ¢108.800 for “Tapis Rouge”; and ¢140.000 for “first row”.
Cardholders of Credomatic American Express will get first crack at the tickets, with pre sale on October 27 and 28; and October 29 and 30 for regular Credomatic cardholders (ie. Visa, Mastercard).
Starting November 1 tickets will be on sale at www.cirquedusoleil.com/corteo, www.eticket.cr, or the call center at 2295-9400.
A total of 106.000 saw the Varekai presentation in 2013.
